Joseph L. Scopelliti, Jr. joined VNA Health System in Shamokin, Penn., as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1990. Scopelliti graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration from Bloomsburg State University. Under his direction, VNA Health System has grown to comprise six separate corporations; four entities are Medicare certified 501(c) 3 nonprofit, community-based, free-standing integrated home health and hospice organizations; the fifth is a recently acquired Adult Day Care; and the sixth company is a for-profit wholly owned subsidiary of the VNAHS Corporation, providing private duty care. Collectively, the organizations serve 18 counties in Central Pennsylvania in mixed urban and rural geography, and employ 500 individuals. Since 2006, various VNA Health System and affiliates have earned placement on the HomeCare Elite list, an annual compilation of the most successful Medicare-certified home health care providers in the United States. This nationwide recognition identifies VNA Health System in the top 25 percent of home health agencies in the country, ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvement and financial performance.
Scopelliti is a Board member of numerous service organizations and currently serves as the Secretary of the VNAA’s Board, and as a member of the Executive, Governance, and Finance committees. He is also a Board Member and President of the VNA’s of the Mid-Atlantic. Over the years, Scopelliti has maintained an active membership/role with the VNAA and is looking forward to furthering his involvement while on the VNAA’s Board of Directors.
