Home-Based Care Community Unites in Response to Hurricane Harvey Flooding
Today, ElevatingHOME and VNAA launch a nationwide charitable initiative to support home-based care agencies in Texas impacted by Hurricane Harvey’s devastating floodwaters.
Many home-based care agencies in southeast Texas prepared for the storm by ensuring patients, including critically ill patients and their families, were moved to safe locations and shelters. Home-based care providers checked with patients and attempted to ensure the availability of care and supplies. Some staff have not been able to return to their own homes or contact patients who may have been moved multiple times as the storm and flooding worsened.
Home-based care providers in southeast Texas need the support of our entire industry. Funds raised will be used to support individual agencies with staff or patients impacted by the flooding. Contributions will help agencies return to operations, clean offices and vehicles damaged in the storm and support staff and patients who may have lost all or many personal belongings.
All contributions are fully tax-deductible and will be made through the Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA), ElevatingHOME’s 501(c)(3) charitable subsidiary. All contributions, 100% of funds raised, will be directed equally to two organizations: the Texas Association for Home Care and Hospice and the Texas and New Mexico Hospice Organization. ElevatingHOME and VNAA believe these state-level organizations are best able to determine which agencies are in greatest need and to quickly distribute funds locally.
Please share this “call to action” to support home-based care provider companies, agencies, colleagues and patients within your own organization and with your clients, partners and communities.
