Preferred Vendor Spotlight: Press Ganey Associates, Inc.
The VNAA would like to congratulate its long-time partner Press Ganey Associates, Inc., for its recent approval by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a qualified survey vendor for the Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HH-CAHPS). As a qualified survey vendor, homecare agencies participating in the national HH-CAHPS implementation can contract with Press Ganey to measure patients' experiences.
In a recent article published by PR Newswire, Press Ganey’s Vice President of Homecare, Lisa Cone-Swartz, said, "Press Ganey is the only survey vendor that can offer a complete suite of tools and services to meet all home health agency needs. We do so much more than just administering the survey. As we have done for hospitals, we can also help our home health agency partners smoothly implement the survey, capture and analyze the results, strategize improvement efforts and aid in the improvement process."
In addition, Press Ganey recently announced results of its annual 2009 Home Care Pulse Report: Patient Perspectives on American Health Care. Key findings include the following:
*While patient satisfaction remains high, lower ratings for administrative procedures were reported.
*Satisfaction levels peak in the first three months of using homecare and are at the lowest levels beyond 12 months of care.
*Patients with Medicaid and private pay arrangements were less satisfied, which could directly impact the profitability of the homecare agency if reform laws are passed.
*Patients are notably more satisfied when their nurses visited in the morning, between 6:00 - 10:00 a.m., versus in the afternoon, especially after 4:00 p.m.
